A letter from Food Service Consultants to the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School Community:
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and explain some of the changes to the foodservice program at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School moving forward. Food Service Consultants is a local company that operates the cafeterias at over 40 archdiocese elementary schools in the St. Louis Metropolitan area, as well as, a number of high schools, colleges and other businesses. We have been in business for over 30 years and have been serving Marquette High School for the past two years.
One of the most important changes to the program is that we will be using our school concept which is called “Healthy Habits”. It was developed to help schools offer a nutritional meal for their students and gives us more flexibility to design menus for your children that they will hopefully enjoy. Our menus are reviewed by our consulting dietitian. Your child will be able to order each day in homeroom and have a greater variety of menu options to choose from. The menus will feature more “homestyle” and less processed foods. Fresh and frozen vegetables, as well as, a variety of fruits will be offered. The menu will feature three (3) main selections to choose from daily. They are the “Healthy Habits” hot lunch, an “alternative entree” and a special “Salad of the Day”. your child will be able to select any of these menu items for their lunch that day. We will also be participating in the Special Milk Program in the very near future, which allows us to offer milk for the students at a reduced price. We will let you know when this program is available as soon as possible.
We will be preparing a menu each month which will be sent home and will be posted on the school website. Students will also be able to purchase and “extra entree” as in the past for only $1.50 more, if they really enjoy a certain menu item. The price for the “Healthy Habits” lunch are;
- All Grades – $2.50
- Extra Entree – $1.50
You will continue to pay for the meals in the cafeteria as you have in the past by sending in funds that will be handled by the FastDirect system. The really good news is that we plan to start serving on October 17th. I am sure many of you are ready to not have to make lunch for your child every day. We hope that this letter will help you to better understand the new foodservice program for the 2016-2017 school year. We are very excited and look forward to serving the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School community. We encourage you to call with any questions that you might have or speak directly with our onsite manager. As with anything new, we do ask for your help and understanding as we start the program. Thank you!
