Mr. Michael Sladek's School Band
SS. Peter and Paul School as a full band with instruction on flute, clarinet, alto or tenor saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, or percussion.

Things to Know
The band program here at SSPP has grown and we would like it to continue, but new members are needed for this to happen. Please give some consideration to your child’s musical development when considering the school band program.
There is a band fee. Please contact Mr. Sladek for details.
How to Choose and Instrument
One of the key success factors in a child learning to play an instrument is playing an instrument that they like and want to play. The instruments I offer lessons on are flute, clarinet, alto or tenor saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, or percussion. A factor I consider is the physical characteristics of the student, and I might have to suggest another instrument if I can see the student would have problems playing a certain instrument.
All beginners should consider renting an instrument before buying. Nottlemann Music Company will be present to discuss a trial rental program they offer. Generally, they offer a new band instrument on a three-month trial basis. At the end of the trial period, the instrument can be returned with no other obligations. You can purchase the instrument with the rental cost already paid being applied towards the purchase price of the instrument, or you can keep renting the instrument and eventually will own it. You can also shop around a see if there are any good used instruments available (checked out before you buy), internet catalog companies, or internet auction site (be very careful here and talk to me before you buy anything)
Some of you may already have an instrument. Please bring it with you to this meeting so that we may check to see if it is in good playing condition. It will be necessary to purchase a lesson book, reeds for woodwinds, and perhaps a music stand.
The school owns a few used instruments that may be loaned to those who might not otherwise get the chance to play an instrument. Please talk to me personally about these instruments.
