Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Preschool – Collinsville, IL
Meet the Teacher: Mrs. Plocher
Mrs. Plocher has been teaching at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Collinsville, Illinois since 1987 and has spent over 20 years as the Kindergarten teacher before moving to Preschool. She loves teaching and watching the young students grow.
The Preschool Classroom is a place where children learn to explore in a safe, loving environment. Young children learn best through play and hands-on activities. Our goal is to provide an environment where they feel comfortable so that they can grow and learn to the best of their abilities.
Mrs. Plocher’s Teaching Style and Values
The Preschool classroom is a place where children learn to explore in a safe, loving environment. Young children learn best through play and hands-on activities. Our goal is to provide an environment where they feel comfortable so that they can grow and learn to the best of their abilities.
The classroom values focus on social skills, such as kindness and cooperation. Preschool is where children learn how to be social and interact with others. We also want to begin to instill Christian values in our students so that they may grow to be a good representation of Christian Faith.
We offer three different curricula for our Preschool students:
Students in the Three-year-old class must turn three by September 1st of the year they enter preschool. They attend school twice a week in the mornings; latchkey is available for the remainder of the day if needed.
Students in the Four-year-old class must turn four by September 1st of the year they enter the four-year-old class. They attend school three times a week in the mornings; latchkey is available for the remainder of the day if needed.
Junior Kindergarteners must also turn four by September 1st of the year they enter the class. These students attend school every day. Three days are full days and two days are just for the afternoon. Latchkey is available as needed.
These three curricula allow you to choose the perfect fit for your child’s needs. We’re happy to work with you to determine what would be best for your child.
Please note: all potential students must be potty-trained prior to beginning preschool.

We celebrate Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day with class parties. Parents are welcome to help plan and attend.
We usually do three field trips per year. Past trips have been to Relleke Pumpkin Farm in Granite City, Illinois, Willoughby Farm in Collinsville, Illinois, and the Collinsville, Illinois Fire Station (with a special treat from Bert’s Chuckwagon in Collinsville afterward). Parents are encouraged to attend with their student.
Preschoolers perform a couple of songs at the Christmas and Spring concerts each year with the rest of the school.
End of Year Celebration
We celebrate the end of a year with an ice cream social during which the classes preform a few songs and “You did it!” certificates are passed out to each student. Parents and families are welcome to attend.
