Principal’s Notes

Next week, we will begin the Iowa Basic Tests testing for grades 3, 5, 7 & 8. We will be testing on Monday through Friday. It is important that the students get plenty of rest and are here during the day. Please try to reschedule any appointments. Most of the tests are being administered during the morning. Thanks for your cooperation.

It is important that all health, dental, and student information forms are returned to the office. If you received a reminder about health or dental forms, those must be returned by October 1st. Students will be refused admission to school after October 15th, if the forms are not completed and on file. The health and dental forms must be signed by a physician/dentist.
The student information area on Fast Direct needs to be completed by the parent/guardian. Please remember to hit the change bar after entering new information.

Dom Marchetti has resigned as Soccer Coordinator. I want to thank him for all of his hard work for our soccer program. If you have soccer questions, please send them to Mr. Winterbottom.

Kudos to
Our teachers and staff for working hard to create a Christian learning environment, while incorporating the new technology.

Happy 70th Birthday to Fr. John!!
The students will be presenting him a gift after Mass tomorrow.

Parking Lot
It is important that everyone follows the pick-up/drop-off directions. We have implemented these to try to ensure the safety of all of our students. Make sure that anyone who transports your children knows the directions. Please remember the following:

In the morning, please stay in the right hand lane. Do not pass any stopped vehicles. Pull up as close to the crosswalk (yellow line) as you can before unloading students. Do not unload students in the grass unless instructed by the lot monitor. Have your students exit quickly. If they forget something, pull up to church so we can keep the line moving.

In the afternoon, please follow the directions of the lot monitors. We are trying to park you as close as safely possible to the car in front of you in order to get as many cars onto Johnson Street as possible. The number of cars on Johnson Street continues to grow. Be careful opening the driver’s side door, there may be cars coming alongside of you.

Thanks for the cooperation. I have been very happy with the overall plan. It seems to be working well.

Student Observers
During this first semester of school we are pleased to welcome the following Early Childhood Student Observers from SIUE: Amber Lahnum (Mrs. Kiefner, Kindergarten),
Hannah Datzie (Mrs. Bergman, 1st grade) and Alexia Lewis-Moss (Mrs. Bozzardi, 2nd grade).
They will observe this semester on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The SIUE supervisor states that they have an increasing number of teacher candidates who are requesting a placement in a Catholic school. Please make them feel welcome.
