Principal’s Notes

We have an unusual number of school holidays this month. There will be no school on Friday, November 4th. The teachers will be attending the Diocesan Adult Enrichment Conference in Decatur as required by the diocese. There is no school on Election Day, November 8th. Normally we would have school, but the construction project and lack of accessible parking makes for a potentially chaotic drop-off and pick-up. School will be closed in honor of Veteran’s Day on November 11th.

Our annual school auction is this Saturday, November 5th. We are grateful for all of the hard work the auction committee has done leading up to this event. This event is the largest fundraiser for the school. We need everyone to participate in some tangible way to make it a success. You can still make reservations or send a monetary donation.

One last call for any phone number changes for School Messenger. If you have not been receiving School Messenger phone messages, please contact the office. This is the official school notification when school will close for weather. I will try to get school closures on Channels 2, 4, and 5, as well as on Fast Direct. Our virtual lessons will be posted on Fast Direct.

The students in grades K-3 had a Clean Hands demonstration by the Madison County Health Department last Tuesday. It was a good reminder for all of us as we enter cold and flu season to practice healthy habits. Please read the handbook in regards to sick students. One way to help keep our students safe is to not send ill students to school until they are no longer contagious.

Kudos: Our school choir for their beautiful music ministry at school masses.

Our Volunteer Tutors
We have been blessed with the volunteer work of Mrs. Kathy Cook. Kathy retired after a successful career in the Triad district. She is working with our students as well as providing help and enrichment to all our lower grade students. She has spearheaded the new IXL Math program as well as scheduling an event during Catholic Schools Week. She is the second mother/grandmother to help us with tutoring. Mrs. Judy Falline has been serving as a tutor since her retirement from Unit 10. Many thanks to both ladies for their ministry!
