We have had a wonderful Catholic Schools Week! I am grateful for the efforts of many people to make it a meaningful one for our students. The end of this message will have a number of items about CSW.
The tuition rate will be raised $50 at each level for next school year. The fundraising amount will remain the same. Remember that if you preregister before March 1st, you will still get this year’s rate. The board is currently considering some other incentives. We will be looking to replace some retiring members. If you are interested, contact me or Renee Crowder (board president).
I would like to remind you that although Punxsutawney Phil predicts an early spring, it is still winter. Please make sure that your student is wearing a coat. A sweatshirt is hardly adequate protection when the wind chill is below zero. Students may wear crew neck sweatshirts during the day, but they must be a solid color or have the school or Buzzy logo. Hooded sweatshirts can be worn to school, but cannot be worn in the classroom. We do have outside recess until it hits 15 degrees real feel (wind chill).
You will be receiving an update on your fundraising total soon. We have had a fantastic year so far. Because of you, we will be able to continue our upgrades to our technology next year. Thanks to all of you.
I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make our Glo Bingo such a success. We made over $7500 profit. Everyone who attended seemed to have a great time. We will be scheduling one for next year.
Don’t forget our TRIVIA NIGHT on Feb 27th.
Lent starts next week on Ash Wednesday. Our students will alternate going to Adoration on Thursdays and Stations of the Cross on Fridays.
Since Valentine’s Day is during lent, we will hold the party on Mardi Gras (Feb. 9th).
Catholic Schools Week Events
We had a great assembly on Wednesday! The Cardinals Doin’ It Right program was an enjoyable and educational time for our students. We learned an important message about staying in school, being active, and to not use drugs. We also learned that Mrs. Phetsadasack does a mean rendition of the Hungarian National Anthem; Mrs. Buehler still has those dance moves from high school, although Mrs. Bergman needs to work on her Whip and Nae Nae; and that we have some of the most respectful and talented kids!
Al and Fredbird were very impressed with our manners, but also our décor. Art Phetsadasack did a fantastic ice sculpture that survived being assembled by rookies. Mrs. Campbell painted a great window of Fredbird and Buzzy. The teachers and students did an awesome job decorating the school. Mr. Winterbottom brought his 2006 World Series trophy. (I didn’t ask how he got an original.)
The city workers really appreciated the lunches and thank you notes that our students took on Tuesday. The food must have been good, because the city started installing our flashing crossing sign this week after two years of waiting.
Today was our annual Class Wars competition. The students always have a great time competing in fun events. A special thank you goes out to Ms. Christian and Mrs. Kiefner, the Student Council sponsors and all of the members of our Student Council. We also had a number of students from Fr. McGivney HS helping around the parish and school today.
Kudos To
SSPP Alumni Noah Mitan and Andrew Taphorn for being inducted into the Father McGivney Catholic High School 2016 National Honor Society.
