We have passed the halfway point in the Advent season. Although we can’t help looking forward to Christmas, our students have become aware of the importance of Advent. Twice a day, we announce the Jesse tree ornament over the intercom. We add the name to the ornament displayed on the main bulletin board.
If you did not receive a School Messenger phone call yesterday from school, please call the office immediately so we can add you to the list. This system is our primary notification system for snow days.
Just a reminder that we do not always follow Unit 10 closures when extreme temperature is involved. Our threshold is minus 25 degrees wind chill. Unit 10 may close for a different temperature. Do not assume that we are closed if Unit 10 closes. We do follow Unit 10 when snow and ice is involved. Remember that the latchkey is closed if school is closed for weather.
Our K-8 students have outside recess until the temperature goes below 15 degrees Real Feel (wind chill). The PK limit is below 25 degrees. Please make sure that your students are dressed appropriately.
Our annual 8th grade basketball night will be next Monday, Dec. 12th. The girls’ game starts at 6:30. Presentations for our four 8th grade boys will occur between games. The boys’ game will start approximately at 7:30. Students are free and will receive a dress down day pass for attending.
A special thanks goes out to our students for another wonderful Christmas program last Tuesday. Congratulations to the band and Mr. Sladek, the choir and Mrs. Popovchak-Erickson, and all of our students and teachers for their hard work. The event always puts us in the proper spirit for Christmas.
We are still collecting for Christmas gifts for Father John and Deacon Jimmy. Please send your gift to the office in an envelope marked Father John.
Kudos to: Trina Rauk and Kelly Gaither for chairing a successful Santa’s Kottage for the students. Thanks also to the many parents who helped our students with their Christmas stockings.
