Protecting God’s Children (PGC) Classes
ANY parent/guardian who may coach, want to be a field trip chaperone, classroom helper (room parent), playground supervisor or lunch helper MUST complete the Protecting God’s Children program plus have a Background Check processed. This is in accordance with the Safe Environment policy of the Springfield Diocese. We may be contacting you to resubmit a background check as they are good for only 5 years. .

AUCTION NEWS
Preparations for this year’s school auction are happening now. Please save the date for this fun event: November 5, 2016!!

All contributions are much appreciated, including those from businesses you frequent, employers, family members, neighbors, etc. Business ads for the printed program are also available for purchase. In this week’s Friday folder, please find a copy of the auction letter & donation form that can be used for the purpose of gathering donations.

If you have not already been contacted, you will soon receive a message from your classroom’s basket coordinator regarding your class basket. Each grade will prepare a themed basket for the auction. Please watch for this message and remember to lend your support.

We are trying something new and will have a whiskey & wine pull this year! Please feel free to start contributing to this now! We are collecting varieties of whiskey and wine or monetary donations to go towards this! More updates will follow…please stay tuned…thank you!
Papa John’s Pizza Night
Order from Papa John’s on Wednesday, September 14 and the school will receive up to 25% of your order!! Fliers will come home with your student that day. SSPP promo code is SSS011. The classroom with the most participation percentage will win a pizza party. Buy SCRIP to pay for your order too!! 

8th Grade Fundraiser – Applebees’s, Collinsville
Wednesday, September 14, 2016, 5 – 9 p.m.
The 8th grade class of 2017 will receive 15% of your purchase to help offset the cost of their class trip to Chicago. A flyer will be included in the church bulletins this weekend, but is also attached. ***THE FLYER MUST BE PRESENTED IN ORDER TO RECEIVE CREDIT.***

Don’t forget that you can purchase Applebee’s scrip ($25 increments) at the school office. A limited amount is available, First come/first serve. You can also use ScripNow if you are enrolled in shopwithscrip.com’s Presto Pay. You can earn money for your fundraising goal (Applebee’s return is 8%) and also help out the 8th grade class.

Help for AR Store
The AR (Accelerated Reader) Store is in need of 20-30 new or like new stuffed animals to keep the costs down of the AR store. Any surplus of stuffed animals the AR store will donate to the Let it go Weekend. Please turn in your stuffed animals to the office on or before Sept 15th. Thanks!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Today, the students received socks to collect their spare change for Kellsie’s Hope Foundation “Sock It to Cancer” Change Drive. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and again this year the Foundation is continuing their mission to fund research for pediatric cancers. We will collect the socks at the end of the month.

SCRIP

The school office carries a variety of scrip cards and can order almost anything. Go to www.glscrip.com or www.shopwithscrip.com for the complete list. The school receives different percentages back on each card purchased. If you know you’ll be shopping at a specific store (ie shopnsave, etc) or dining at a specific restaurant (ie olive garden, etc), or paying your store charge (ie kohl’s, etc), please think about purchasing them from school.
