Pumpkin Book Project
Student Council is sponsoring the Pumpkin Book Project. Students in all grade levels are encouraged to decorate a pumpkin as a literary character (a character from a children’s book or age-appropriate novel). Pumpkins are due by Tuesday, October 30th unless the student’s teacher has set an earlier date. Student Council will vote on one winner per grade level. A small prize will be awarded to the winners on Halloween. We look forward to seeing lots of pumpkin characters!

Red Ribbon Week: Oct 29-Nov 1
Red Ribbon Week celebrates the law officers who lost their lives protecting others from the distribution and sale of drugs. We learn to say NO to things that can harm us and as part of Respect Life month to say YES to the gifts that God has given to us. The week’s agenda is listed below.
Monday – Oct 29 – From Head to Toe, I’m Drug Free = Crazy Hair & Sock Day (No hair dye is allowed)
Tuesday – Oct 30 – Hocus Pocus! Keep your dreams in focus! = Students can wear silly glasses.
Wednesday – Oct 31 – Drugs are Scary!
Grades K-3 can wear Halloween Costumes AFTER recess. Grades 4-8 can dress as their Favorite Book Character.
Thursday – Nov 1 – I am a “Jean-ius”. I’m drug free! = Students may wear jeans and school appropriate
RED shirt to close out RED RIBBON WEEK.

VISION AND HEARING SCREENINGS
Screenings have been scheduled for Monday, October 29, 2018. If your student is included in the mandated program, you received a notice in last week’s Friday Folder.

State mandates that all NEW AND TRANSFER students have a vision & hearing screening, unless said student provides a report indicating that an examination has been administered within the previous 12 months.

“Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor. Your child is not required to undergo this vision screening if an optometrist or ophthalmologist has completed and signed a report indicating that an examination has been administered within the previous 12 months and that evaluation is on file at the school.”

Kindergarten: Every student Hearing & Vision, First Grade: Every student Hearing only
Second Grade: Every student Hearing & Vision, Third Grade: Every student Hearing only
Eighth Grade: Every student Vision only
