Principal’s Notes February 5, 2015

There have been a number of recent presentations by the parish Master Plan Committee detailing the proposed addition to the church. I am asking that you send any comments, concerns, or suggestions about the plan to me or one of the board members. The committee needs to hear from as many parishioners as possible in order to report to the diocese. You can send them in anonymously also. Remember that this is a $2.3 million project and will affect security, parking, finances, etc. for the school. Make your voice heard.

The school board will be setting the tuition at the March board meeting. I am waiting for the benefits package from the diocese. There will be openings on next year’s board. We will be looking to replace some retiring members. We would especially like to have at least one dad to step forward and we can always use interested moms as well. If you are interested, contact me or Renee Crowder (board president).

I would like to remind you that it looks like winter is not leaving anytime soon. Please make sure that your student is wearing a coat. A sweatshirt is hardly adequate protection when the wind chill is below zero. Students may wear crew neck sweatshirts during the day, but they must be a solid color or have the school or Buzzy logo. Hooded sweatshirts can be worn to school, but cannot be worn in the classroom. We do have outside recess until it hits 15 real feel (wind chill).

You will be receiving an update on your fundraising total soon. We have had a fantastic year so far. Because of you, we will be able to make some radical changes to our technology next year. Thanks to all of you!

I hope that all of you read the notice about the new door entry system. Thanks to Vmass security for the installation. Please be patient as we learn the new system. This is another upgrade to our school security.

Don’t forget our Trivia Night on February 21st.

Kudos To

The following will be in effect immediately: (pg. 23 Handbook)

Emergency School Closings
It is the policy of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School to close when Collinsville Unit 10 cancels classes due to unsafe road conditions. When Collinsville Unit 10 closes due to extreme cold, we will follow our own guidelines. The principal of SSPP will close school when the forecasted real feel (wind chill) during the school day is minus 25 degrees or lower. School closings will be sent primarily via the School Reach phone messaging system. The notice will be telecast on channel 5 and Fox 2. Please do not call the school or parish office for this information. In the event of extreme weather during the school day, Ss. Peter and Paul School will follow Collinsville Unit 10.
