Preschool Open House & Registration Sunday, March 4 from 2-4 pm in Manning Hall.

I would like to extend an invitation to all of our parents to consider being a Parent Ambassador of our school. Parent Ambassadors would meet and greet new parents to our school, give school tours and answer questions that only you, as Ss Peter & Paul parents, can answer. Ambassadors help to open the doors for new parents and give them a famliar face as they navigate the new terriroty of our school.
I am hoping to have 3-5 Parent Ambassadors available for our PreSchool Open House on Sunday, March 4. We can meet just prior to Open House to review talking points and answer any questions that you may have. Mrs. Plocher and I will be at the Open House but sometimes it is good to hear from parent-to-parent about our school. YOU are our best cheerleaders! Please call or FD me if you would like more information. (We will have Student Ambassadors there, too!)

DROP OFF CAUTION: PLEASE STOP at STOP SIGNS
The Morrison Street + Johnson Street crosswalk is a high traffic, frantic area every morning. Vehicles are coming from all directions. We have had some narrow escapes lately and need to be careful of each other. Stop-do not just slow down-use turn signals-stay in your lanes – future drivers are watching and we need EVERYONE to be safe!

All chaperones, coaches, volunteers must complete the Protecting God’s Children program to participate. This program will be presented here at Ss. Peter and Paul on Tuesday, March 13 at 6:30 pm and on Saturday, March 17 at 8:30 am in Morris Hall. You only need to attend this program one time.

Thank you to Amy Smith and her Crew for a Fabulous Trivia Night last Saturday, February 3! Fun was had by all 12 teams who participated. It was a successful event with a total of $2,229 raised to support our school’s operations. 42 students participated in the class contest and will receive a dress down day on Thursday, Feb 15. The 7th grade class earned the most participation points and will receive a class ice cream party. Thank you to everyone who helped and attended.

Wednesday, February 14 is Ash Wednesday – the beginning of the liturgical season of Lent. Students will attend Mass on Wednesday and receive ashes. During Lent, students will attend Eucharistic Adoration on Thursday or Stations of the Cross on Friday each week. Attached is a Lenten calendar that suggests daily family activities to consider.

The Illinois State Tax Scholarship website, empowerillinois.org, is on overload and shut down until they can accommodate the volume of applications. All families are encouraged to apply. Only three applications did make their way through on the initial application day, January 31. Over $50,000 has been donated specifically for Ss Peter & Paul Catholic School. Keep watching your email for the site to re-open. Have your documents ready. Call the school office or parish business office if you have any questions. As soon as we receive any definite information, we will send it along.

Fellowship: Calling Second and Third grade parents! We need your help as hosts after weekend Masses. We need two or three parents (children can help too!) to give a few minutes for set up before Mass and about 20-30 minutes after Mass. Liz Dalton will fill you in with details. Please call the school office and we will walk you through the details.

Message to Parents: Sonja Witte, owner of Dairy Freeze, is looking for an adult to work March – October at the Dairy Freeze. Hours would be 11 – 4 or there about. If interested her number is 344-5556.

Blessings,

Peg Bodinet
