Principal’s Pen – May 11, 2018

We can never say, “Thank You,” enough for all that our volunteers do for us during the school year! The Faculty would like to say “Thank You” by hosting Treats & Sweets in the Church Gathering Space after Masses this weekend May 12 & 13. Give yourself a few minutes – or more – to let us treat you in thanksgiving for all that you do for us.

“THANK YOU” shout outs from each of the faculty members for the delightful ways you treated us this teacher appreciation week! From fruit baskets to bagels to Madison cake and the yummy-duty-free lunch served up by our very own Student Council, you fed us like kings and queens! Best of all were the sweet notes. We treasure them all.

“Thoughtfulness” was the trait for Students of the Month for April. So many students qualify for this award with their generous and kind spirits. Congratulations to all who earned the award this month.

Thursday we celebrated Mission Carnival with prayers for our partners in Missions throughout the world. Check out the Holy Childhood Association Mission Cards in the Friday folders & keep the Missions in your prayers.

Last day of school Friday, May 18, 2018 dismissal will be 11:15 am. There will be no Extended After School Care that day. Mass at 8:15 followed by awards followed by summer break!

One door closes and another door opens…….

Welcome Ms. Patricia Kirk who will be joining Ss Peter & Paul School as Principal on July 1. Ms. Kirk and I will be putting our heads together this month to make the transition as smooth as possible. She is very excited to be here and I certainly understand. There is much to be excited about!

It has been a true pleasure to work here with you and be a part of this wonderful parish and school. God has been so good to me to allow me to experience Ss Peter & Paul Catholic School.
May He continue to bless you in this strong faith and education community!

We bid farewell to Mrs. Sara Kiefner, Sophia and Jackson Kiefner as they prepare for their move to England. We wish you happiness in your new home and look forward to hearing of your new explorations and adventures.

Welcome to Mrs. Christine Rukavina Scott as our new Kindergarten teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. An alumna of SSPP, Mrs. Scott is familiar to us as director of Extended Care, our Summer Program, Primary grade PE teacher and Preschool Aide.

Another change to the Faculty and Support roster is saying good-bye to Ms. Sandy Freiburg, certified social worker and counselor from Caritas Solutions, who has been a part of our school for 20 years. Ms. Sandy formed and trained the Student Assistance Team which evolved into the SAINT team comprised of teachers who help students and their families deal with issues and crisis large and small. We have been blessed by Ms. Sandy’s guidance and gentleness in navigating many students and their famlies through rough times and keeping us on positive healthy paths. Ms. Sandy has taken a position with the Archdiocese of St. Louis as a counselor.

Mrs. Amy Mills is a mentor/volunteer with the newly formed SSPP GPS Parish Ministry (God Provides the Spirit). Mrs. Mills has a background in social work and psychology and has served as a student mentor for several years in the public schools. We look forward to her interaction with our students in the fall through Youth Ministry too.
