Principal’s Pen August 31, 2018

The BBQ and Soccer Sunday was a wonderful way to gather as a school family! Thank you so much for those who worked hard to make the food delicious and to those who served to make everyone feel welcomed.

Mother’s Mass – If you have not sent in your response for the Mother’s Mass on Friday, September 7th, please do so. There are some parishioners who have volunteered to be a “step in mother” in case you or someone cannot be present for your child. Please let me know and I will let the parishioner know who could walk your son or daughter to class.

Father John’s – Please send in whatever donation you can for Father John’s birthday gift. We will present him with his gift at the Tuesday, September 11th Mass. I will let you know after his Mass as we want to keep it a surprise for him.

Orientation for all New Families – There will be a meeting for all new families in Fellowship Hall on Thursday, September 6th at 6:30 pm. It is requested that at least one parent attend. This will be an informational meeting to help you as our new parents.

Green Shirts – The first order of green shirts will be sent to the company today. If you would still like to purchase one send in your order.

Spirit Wear – There has been concerns about when the students will be wearing their “spirit wear/ Buzzy wear”. At the faculty meeting on Wednesday, we agreed that the first Wednesday of every month (unless it needs to be a different date because of a special mass) students will be allowed to wear Buzzy wear or the jersey of the school sport that they play with jeans. If students do not have Buzzy wear they may wear the green shirt. If they do not have jeans then they need to wear their uniform pants. This is not a dress-down day.

Emergency Procedures – The faculty and I are going over our emergency procedure manual so it is up to date and all of us know exactly what to do in case of an emergency. Yesterday we had our first Fire Drill and all went very well. The students were quiet and did exactly what they were to do. The buildings were vacated within 1 minute and 15 seconds.

Confessions – Next week Tuesday students in Grades 3 – 8 will be going to confession.

Walk-Through’ s and First Semester Goal Setting – I have been doing short Walk – Through’s of the classrooms this week and will continue next week. Teachers are doing a great job of teaching and the students are listening and participating as I walk through. The goals which the teachers have set for themselves for the first semester have been very well thought out. They are working on either a subject, religious, or technology improvement or a professional growth development. We have a wonderful group of dedicated teachers.

Blessings to your family,
Miss Kirk
