Principal’s Pen November 1, 2018

Dear Parents,

We have had a very full week of exciting and fun events. On Monday four eighth graders accepted a new Illinois flag from State Representative Katie Stuart which has been flown over our State Capitol.

Students in grades Pre-School – 3rd grade enjoyed
showing their Halloween costumes to students in grades 4 – 8, the office staff, and the parish staff. The faculty also had an enjoyable day in their original costumes. What a creative and fun-loving staff!

Congratulations to the students who attained Honors for the first Quarter! We are so proud of you!!

We will be having a Virtual Day on Tuesday, November 6th. Morris Hall will be a polling place for the elections. There will be no student attendance at school on this day.

At a recent Principal’s Meeting I was given the newly revised By-Laws for the Southern Springfield Catholic Athletic Conference (SSCAC). We are among the 10 member schools of the Conference. The SSCAC sets game limits and by-laws for conference play. The SSCAC places a strong emphasis on player, coach, and fan sportsmanship. I am pleased to say that the game that I have attended the behavior of our coaches, players, and fans has been very positive and encouraging. Thank you for setting an example of the good sportsmanship for Ss Peter and Paul Catholic School. While we are in the season of basketball, just a reminder that students who play sports must keep their grades up. They cannot have an F and be eligible for playing in a game. Grades are checked every Thursday.

Just a reminder: that you have public access to the list of registered sex offenders on the Illinois State Police website. It is my duty as principal to inform you of this availability.

Reminder no shorts are worn beginning on November 1st. Please review the Dress Code for cold weather attire. First Wednesday of November (November 7th) students are allowed to wear their green shirts or a spirit shirt with long jeans.

Red Ribbon Week
began with Crazy hair and crazy socks.
As you can see our students really got
into the theme. From Head to Toe, I’m Drug Free!

Today we remember all the Saints who have gone before us to give us their spiritual guidance and example of their deep love for God. The third graders were dressed as saints and shared their information to all during and after Mass.

May the Saints guide you,
Miss Kirk
